The Post-Print World
In October 2009, I went to the North Cascades Institute's Learning Center to present at the 2-day seminar "Will Write for Change." This seminar focused on what it takes to write for the web, and how to tell your story through words and multimedia.
My talk titled "Communications in the Post-Print World" was an overview of what web publishing skills should be developed to be effective and what some of the elements of web and email publishing are.
Throughout the seminar the theme of how to write for an audience outside of the converted came up time and time again. The environmental movement has been a bit guilty over the years of largely talking to itself and in terms that only its close supporters really understand.
For more info on how to tell your story for a wider audience, see my blog post on William Dietrich's talk on storytelling presented at the same seminar.
