Groundwire Labs releases Volunteers for Salesforce
Until now organizations using Salesforce.com didn’t have a solution to help them manage their volunteer program. Many were spending their own money to build custom solutions or were hacking something together out of what you get out-of-the-box. With the release of Volunteers for Salesforce Groundwire is finally taking care of this problem. We’ve released a solid application full of features you need to manage your program and which is freely available to install and use.
That's what databases are for!
When designing Volunteers for Salesforce we asked organizations about how they manage volunteers and where they need help. Those organizations told us about how they struggled to keep track of all the people and the time they spent volunteering. At the end of the year they had to spend a ton of time going through records to tally up the time. Not fun and not a good use of limited resources. That is what databases are for!
Open Source
Because there is no way we could create one application that solves everyone’s problems we focused on solving the problem for small-to-mid size nonprofits that have modest volunteer programs. This covers most of the nonprofits out there, so I hope you are with one of them! Big nonprofits or those whose mission focuses on volunteers might not find Volunteers for Salesforce does everything they need. They might need to build their own all or, better yet, extend Volunteers for Salesforce to do what they need. Good thing we also made it open source.
Features
For the organizations we listened to we’re happy to report we were able to build in all the major features they asked for. Here is a quick rundown of the major features:
• Manage volunteer jobs
• Track hours volunteers give you
• Optionally manage volunteer shifts for jobs
• List of available jobs on your website and allow people to sign up
• Comprehensive list of reports and a dashboard
Ready to install?
Sounds pretty good, right? What are you waiting for? It’s ready for you to install today. We do suggest that you or your Salesforce admin check out the installation guide ahead of time.
Volunteers for Salesforce was made possible by a generous grant from the Salesforce.com Foundation and from supporters of Groundwire Labs.
