ONE/Northwest Powers Web Servers with Clean Energy

In January 2006, ONE/Northwest began purchasing Green Tags from the Bonneville Environmental Foundation to offset the energy consumed to power our web servers.

green-tags-logo.gifIn January 2006, ONE/Northwest began purchasing Green Tags from the Bonneville Environmental Foundation to offset the energy our web servers consume.  Most traditional power generation relies on burning fossil fuel.  By replacing existing power with wind and solar, we are working to help build a greener energy portfolio for our communities.

More About Green Tags

  • Green Tags are created when wind power or other renewable energy is substituted for traditional power.
  • Buying Green Tags has the same effect as buying green power. Both replace fossil fuel generators with clean renewables, and both have exactly the same environmental benefits.

BEF sells Green Tags from renewable energy projects that are independently reviewed and endorsed by leading environmental groups.  All Green Tag renewable energy projects are carefully sited and operated to minimize environmental impacts. In addition, BEF Green Tags are certified by Green-e and Climate Neutral Network.

Many thanks to EcoFusion who encouraged us to explore greening our energy use.
