popup-form-wcvA common request from Groundwire's website clients is for a "popup form" or a "splash screen" that will ask website visitors to sign up or take an action before proceeding on to the rest of the site.

This is a powerful technique that savvy online marketers have been using for years.  But it's easy to mis-use or abuse, and many nonprofits have shied away from it. That's where we came in.

We worked with friend-of-Groundwire Steve McMahon of Reid-McMahon, LLC to create "Popup Forms for Plone."  Popup Forms makes it easy to create and manage popup forms anywhere on your site.

You can use any standard Plone form as a popup, and you can control exactly on which site pages or sections the popup appears. Popups will only appear once per user, so there's no worry about users getting upset with popups that won't go away.  And, since the popups use javascript-based "lightbox" effects, they don't get blocked by popup-blockers.

Even better, you can configure your popups with a time delay, so that they only appear after a user has been on your page for a certain amount of time. (Most folks' test results have shown that delayed popups are more effective than immediate popups, presumably because the user has had the chance to see what your site is all about before you ask them to sign up.)
