Portlets are almost endlessly flexible. One of the most intruging use cases for portlets is to feature "spotlight" content on your site. Spotlight content can be almost anything, but here are some common examples:

• A video
• An image of a partner org
• An image of a featured donor or volunteer
• Your EDs new publication
• Lots more!

One or Many

Portlets can display content statically (unchanging) or dynamically (changing). In some cases you may wish to have the same spotlighted content appear everywhere on site. In other cases you may have several things you wish to spotlight, and would like each spotlighted item to appear in context on the site. Let's say you want to feature a volunteer who has been stellar at attending climate change events in your town. Since you have a whole section on your site dedicated to climate issues, it would make sense to feature that person there, right? As a site visitor moves around your website they would see other spotlighted volunteer in relation to your other program areas. Neat huh?
