Seattle Tilth is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and educating people to garden organically and conserve natural resources. Through adult and children’s gardening classes, the garden hotline, a master composter program, demonstration gardens, events and fairs, Seattle is well on its way to be the organic gardening capital of the world.
Oregon Rural Action
Oregon Rural Action publishes the Food and Farm Directory for Northeast Oregon in order to build better connections between farm and plate. They promote farmers' markets all over the region, they have implemented a Food Literacy educational curriculum in local schools, they work on issues of Confined Animal Feeding Operations and the Federal Clean Air Act, and they support community garden projects that fill local food banks with healthy food options.
Food Alliance
Food Alliance is based in Oregon and is a nonprofit organization that certifies farm, ranches and food handlers for sustainable agricultural practices. More and more community members are supporting local products grown in fair working conditions, with humane treatment of animals, and with good environmental stewardship.
