The Basics

Overview:
ONE/Northwest has extended the way Plone -- the Content Management System we build our websites on -- functions to make our websites more "audience-centric".  This allows you to relate news, events, and normal web pages to your online audiences and your program areas.

This allows you to help users find the content in your site that's most relevant to them. We call this set of audience-centric extensions "Pigeonhole".

• The backbone of Pigeonhole is the settings each page has for audiences, programs and page goals. The interaction of these elements drives how Pigeonhole displays these content types:
  

1. News Items: Used for making public annoucements, press releases, and updates on current activities.
2. Events: A way to announce and invite your users to attend an event.
3. Quizzes: A way to engage and educate site visitors.
4. Quotes: A means to build trust with your users by showing a brief testimonial from a source they would respect.
   
5. Normal Pages: Most of the pages in your site are simple pages.
